Packing might help some of this by placing items longer / taller than the gap across the gap so that they act as a brace for the rearward stuff.

Even when you lower 2nd row seats there are the 3rd row seats folded up and right in the way of a possible sudden need to haul something.

Ive tried slamming the seat down as much as reasonably possible, to confirm the seat is latched to the floor, but the back portion of the seat still gets stuck after only about 10-15 degrees.
